Subhadra Yojana 2nd Installment

In a major announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed that the second installment of the Subhadra Yojana will be released in March 2025, aligning with International Women’s Day. This flagship scheme, introduced on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, has already garnered nationwide attention for its transformative approach toward empowering women.

With 80 lakh women already benefiting, Subhadra Yojana aims to cover 1 crore beneficiaries by January 2025. The financial aid is distributed in two installments of ₹5,000 each, ensuring consistent support for eligible women across the state.

Benefits of Subhadra Yojana

The Subhadra Yojana offers financial support and empowerment opportunities for women in Odisha. Below are some of the main benefits under the scheme:

  1. Subhadra Card for Identity and Empowerment
    Beneficiaries will receive a SUBHADRA Card, an ATM-cum-debit card, symbolizing their participation and financial inclusion.
  2. Monetary Benefits
    • A total of ₹50,000 per beneficiary over five years, at the rate of ₹10,000 annually from 2024 to 2028.
    • The annual amount will be credited in two installments of ₹5,000 each, ensuring regular financial support.
  3. Timely Installments
    • The first installment is credited during Rakhi Purnima, while the second is released on International Women’s Day.
  4. Aadhaar-Linked Direct Transfers
    Funds are seamlessly transferred into the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-enabled bank account, ensuring transparency and speed.
  5. Promoting Digital Transactions
    • A rewards and recognition program will incentivize women to adopt digital transactions.
    • 100 women from each Gram Panchayat/Urban Local Body with the highest digital transactions annually will receive an additional ₹500 reward.
  6. Encouraging Economic Participation
    These benefits aim to foster a sense of identity, financial independence, and active participation in digital financial systems among women.

Massive Impact So Far

Subhadra Yojana has already disbursed the first installment in three phases, and the final leg is expected by January. The upcoming second installment in March 2025 will further strengthen the government’s commitment to women’s welfare.
