Government of India has launched a new pilot scheme called the NAVYA Scheme (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) on 24 June 2025 from Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. This scheme is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It focuses on providing vocational training to adolescent girls in non-traditional job roles, making them future-ready and independent.

What is NAVYA Scheme?

NAVYA Scheme is a pilot skill development program for adolescent girls between the ages of 16 and 18 years who have passed at least Class 10. It aims to provide vocational training in high-demand, modern sectors such as drone operations, mobile repair, solar panel installation, and digital design. The scheme is being implemented in 27 districts across 19 states, including aspirational districts and North-Eastern states.

7-Hour Special Training Program Under NAVYA Scheme

Under the NAVYA, a specially designed 7-hour training module has been created for adolescent girls. This program focuses on four key life and workplace skills that are essential for their personal and professional growth. The NAVYA training includes:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Focus on hygiene, self-presentation, and conflict management
  • Communication Skills: Active listening and effective conversation techniques
  • Workplace Safety: Awareness about POSH and POCSO laws, workplace safety, and rights
  • Financial Literacy: Basics of managing income and expenses, and understanding financial concepts

This focused module is meant to build confidence, promote self-reliance, and prepare girls for real-world challenges in both their personal and career lives.
