Are you a farmer looking for better support from the government? The recent Budget 2025 brings great news! Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced six new schemes that will help farmers across India. Let’s understand these schemes in simple terms.
2. Enhanced Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme: More Financial Power for Farmers
Great news! Now you can get bigger loans through your Kisan Credit Card. The limit has gone up from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh. This means more money for farming, fishing, and dairy work. Even if you’re 75 years old, you can still get this card. Already, 7.4 crore farmers are using KCC, and now more farmers can benefit.
2. Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana: Transforming Agricultural Districts
The government has announced a new scheme called Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. This will help 100 farming districts where farmers face problems. About 1.7 crore farmers will get better facilities for:
- Growing different types of crops
- Storing their harvest safely
- Getting loans easily
Benefits of PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana
Special credit facilities, subsidies on modern farming equipment and support for irrigation infrastructure are the major benefits of this scheme.
3. Mission Pulses: Boosting Indigenous Pulse Production
If you grow pulses like tur, urad, or masoor, there is a new scheme announced in 2025-26 budget for you as well. A new 6-year plan will help you sell your crops easily. Government organizations NAFED and NCCF will buy pulses directly from farmers for the next 4 years. This means guaranteed buyers and better prices for your crops!
4. Makhana Board Initiative: Empowering Bihar’s Fox Nut Farmer
If you grow makhana (fox nuts) in Bihar, there’s special help coming your way. A new Makhana Board will:
- Help farmers form groups (FPOs)
- Connect you directly to government schemes
- Make it easier to process and sell makhana
5. Agricultural Research Ecosystem Mission: Innovation in Farming
The government is launching a National Mission on High-Yielding Seeds to strengthen the agricultural research ecosystem. This mission focuses on developing and promoting seeds that are high-yielding, pest-resistant, and climate-resilient, with plans to commercially release over 100 new seed varieties since July 2024. These efforts aim to enhance crop productivity and help farmers adapt to changing climatic conditions.
6. Help for Cotton Farmers
A five-year mission has been announced to boost cotton productivity, particularly of extra-long staple cotton, through research and development initiatives.
More Benefits for Farmers
- A new urea factory in Assam will help farmers get fertilizers easily
- Fish farmers can earn more as India plans to sell ₹60,000 crore worth of seafood to other countries
- Better support for growing grains, fruits, and vegetables
These new schemes for farmers show that the government wants to make farming better and more profitable. With these changes, farmers can expect better income and support in the coming years.
