Punjab government has launched new and updated Sehat bima yojana card 2025 under the public healthcare scheme Mukh Mantri Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana. Under this scheme, the state government of Punjab is providing every family in Punjab cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per year. Sehat bima yojana card under this scheme will be provided to 65 lakh families or about 3 crore people. Online applications for Sehar Bima card will soon be accepted through the official portal of the scheme.
Sehat Bima yojana card will be accepted in all government hospitals as well as 550+ empanelled private hospitals in Punjab. The state government has set a budget of ₹778 Crore for providing treatment through sehat bima cards for the financial year 2025-26. Punjab has now become the first state in India to offer a universal ₹10 lakh health insurance cover to every household, irrespective of their income, social status, or family size.
Sehat Bima Yojana Card 2025
Earlier than this Sehat Bima Yojana 2025, Ayushman Bharat Yojana is providing health coverage up to ₹5 lakh only to selected households based on their income and age. Under the new Sehat Bima Yojana Card 2025, every Punjab resident, regardless of previous eligibility, will get up to ₹10 lakh health coverage benefits.
- Punjab is now the first state in India to provide this level of universal, cashless health insurance.
- The scheme covers both public and private hospitals. At present, there are 550 empanelled private hospitals and the government is aiming to reach 1000 private hospitals soon under the scheme.
- Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved this scheme in July 2025 and the registration for cards will be started from 2 October 2025.
Benefits of Sehat Bima Yojana Card 2025
1. Universal Inclusion
All Punjab residents are eligible to apply for Sehat Bima Card, regardless of their income, occupation, caste, or family size. Even government employees, pensioners, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and daily wage earners are included. There are no exclusions.
2. Massive Cashless Health Coverage
Each family covered under the program will receive a health cover of up to ₹10 lakh per year for treatment. Rs. 10 lakh cover is per family, not per person, but applies to all members of the family.
3. No Complex Documentation
Only two documents are required to apply for Sehat Bima Card, Aadhaar Card or Voter ID with a Punjab address. There is no need to provide any income proof, ration card, or any cast certificate.
4. All Major Hospitals Covered
Over 550 private hospitals are already empanelled under the scheme, with a target to reach 1000 soon. Every government hospital in Punjab is also included to provide treatment of up to Rs. 10 lakh to all the Sehat Bima Yojana card holders.

Sehat Bima card covers over 1,950 medical and surgical procedures, including surgeries, critical illness, chronic disease management, maternity care, and more.

The scheme is completely free for all residents. No premiums, no hidden charges, and no partial funding. Punjab Government has allocated ₹778 Crore for the scheme in the 2025-26 state budget.

How to Apply for Sehat Bima Yojana Card 2025
The state government of Punjab will begin issuing the Sehat Bima Yojana Card on Gandhi Jayanti. From 2nd October 2025, online application / registration for Sehat Bima Card will be open across Punjab.
Punjab residents would be able to apply or register for New Sehat Bima Yojana Card 2025 through several methods such as online official portal, CSC centers, directly through hospitals and special registration & enrollment camps. Below is the detailed process of Sehat Bima Card application through different methods.
1. Apply Online through Official Portal
Punjab Government will soon launch a dedicated official portal for accepting online applications for Sehat Bima Yojana card. Below is the process to apply online.
- Visit the official portal of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana (coming soon).
- Click on the “New Card Registration” link on the homepage.
- Now, the application / registration form for Sehat Bima card will open, enter your Aadhar number and click “Get OTP“.
- Enter the OTP, fill other details asked in the form such as family member details, address, bank account details etc.
- Upload all the required documents in the form and submit it.
- Your registration is complete, and your Sehat Bima Card will be delivered / available for digital download after the verification of details and documents.
2. Apply through Seva Kendra or Common Service Centers (CSC)
Residents can visit any Seva Kendra or CSC with their Aadhaar or Voter ID to apply for Sehat Bima Card. The center operator will assist with application, document verification, and card generation.
3. Hospital Registration Camps
The state government will organize special enrollment / registration camps in all major government and private hospitals across Punjab. People can also visit these hospitals on or after 2nd October 2025 to get their Sehat Bima Card.
4. Through Village & Mobile Camps
Punjab government may also conduct special drives in villages and remote areas to ensure everywhere coverage under the scheme and mobile teams may also visit homes in some areas to register bedridden, elderly, or differently-abled residents for Sehat Bima Yojana card.
Eligibility for Sehat Bima Card
Eligibility criteria for Sehat Bima Yojana card is very simple.
- Any person who is a resident of Punjab, regardless of income or social category is eligible.
- Families already enrolled under Ayushman Bharat Yojana or previous state schemes will get upgraded/top-up coverage.
- Newly eligible families, about 20 lakh not covered under any government insurance will also get ₹10 lakh coverage for the first time.
There is no upper limit on the number of members per family. The scheme covers all family members including children, elders, and dependents.
