Kharif Crops 2025-26 MSP: Government of India has officially approved the new Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Kharif Crops for the 2025-26 marketing season. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister, has increased MSPs to ensure Indian farmers get remunerative prices for their produce. These changes will directly benefit crores of farmers growing paddy, pulses, oilseeds, and commercial crops across the country.
The revised Kharif Crops 2025-26 MSP aims to support farmers by covering at least 1.5 times their production cost. In 2025-26, the highest increase is for nigerseed (Rs. 820 per quintal), followed by ragi, cotton, and sesamum. These new MSP rates not only ensure a safety net for farmers but also encourage the cultivation of pulses, oilseeds, and nutri-cereals (Shree Anna).

What is MSP and Why It Matters?
Minimum Support Price (MSP) is the price at which the government buys crops from farmers, regardless of market rates. The main aim is to protect farmers from sudden fall in crop prices and guarantee a fair income. Every year, the MSP is revised based on crop production costs, inflation, and government policy.
New Kharif Crops MSP 2025-26 follows the Union Budget promise of fixing MSP at least 1.5 times the production cost. In some crops, the margin is even higher: Bajra (63%), Maize (59%), Tur/Arhar (59%), and Urad (53%). For all other crops, the margin is at least 50%. This means farmers will get more profit compared to their input costs, leading to better income and reduced risk.
